Thomas J. Ralston Chief Operating Officer Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP A Return to Home For 20 years, I was the administrator of the Superior Court of Delaware, based in the stately courthouse (built in 1916) on Rodney Square in the heart of Wilmington, DE. When I left, a new courthouse was under construction several blocks away. The state sold the old courthouse, which went through a series of owners who demolished the courtrooms and offices but never completed renovations or found new tenants. I joined Young Conaway in 2001. Ten years later, while negotiating our office lease renewal, developing the old courthouse became an option. Young Conaway embraced this idea, and I returned to my old home in January 2012. Although the exterior of the original courthouse remains largely intact, the only interior features that remain are the two three-story rotundas with a domed ceiling at each end of the building. Our new home now has more than 218,000 square-feet of historically certified, yet technologically advanced, office space in which the firm is the sole tenant. My daughter and son grew up standing in my office window watching the Christmas and St. Patrick's Day parades pass by the courthouse. Now my granddaughters are able to have the same experience. 42 Peer to Peer
