I T ' S E A S Y ! ,Proactive maintenance, better known as preventative maintenance, focuses on minimizing equipment failure and repairs through performing scheduled mainte- nance tasks. Regularly inspecting, clean- ing, lubricating and replacing fluids makes your equipment more reliable and increases its life span. Although preventative main- tenance takes time and has an ongoing expense associated with it, the total cost is generally significantly less over the life of the equipment when compared to a reac- tive strategy. Tasks The following is a list of inspection and preventative maintenance tasks that should be performed at least once per year on an IR. Some of these tasks only apply to specific manufacturers, models and years so it is best to refer to the IR owner's manual to find a comprehensive list of recommended tasks and intervals. Owner's manuals can be found online or provided by the manufacturer.
