WINTER2021

One of the more difficult restrictions at CFC Park
asked athletes to stay in their cars until just 15
minutes before their game or rental was scheduled.
"I've been at tournaments or games where everyone's
always out there an hour prior trying to warm and up
get ready."
Even when activities were restricted to outdoor
fields, they still had to allow access inside the
building – where the bathrooms are. "We have three
bathrooms. We limited it to one person in a bathroom
at a time, even though there are multiple stalls. We
have entrance ways and exit ways and hand sanitizer
everywhere."
Ultimately, Christine wasn't as worried about CFC Park
as she was the all-indoor CFC Arena. She also knew
that the decision on whether to play belonged to the
athletes. "It's voluntary, so to speak. We're not forcing
anybody to go out there and play."
"I obviously got a million emails," she continued. "I said,
'If you don't feel comfortable, if your family doesn't feel
comfortable, then please do not come and do not play.
Once you feel comfortable, let us know.' And anybody
that felt uncomfortable and already paid, we'll give
them a credit."
On a personal level, Christine understood the desire
to play as well as the desire to be safe. "I was on the
fence. I could go one way or the other personally, so I
understood people's fears and concerns."
Building Up
The next step in recovering from the pandemic and
building on the facility's solid start is to open the
facility more to the community at large. "A lot of
people drive by, but they don't understand what is or
what's inside. They think of it more as a private club,
and we want to keep inviting the community to get
involved.
"I've talked to a bunch of people and they're excited
about it. I'm optimistic that's going to be a good
revenue maker for the park. We have to just keep
getting that word out."
