Page | 1 (Updated August 8, 2024) Hands-On Learning | Cycle Count Planning: Now You Know Your ABCs Question: What is Cycle Count Planning? Answer: The Latitude Cycle Count Planning Module provides for creating a comprehensive, periodic cycle count plan and measuring progress toward completion of this plan. By establishing these cycle counting disciplines, distributors can achieve their goal of eliminating annual physical inventories. The idea behind Cycle Count Planning is to plug in the rules you want regarding the frequencies that items should be counted throughout the year and then let the system tell you what needs to be counted that day to achieve your goals. Additionally, screens and reports, etc., provide the details needed to monitor progress. Latitude Web Login 1) Using these credentials, log into Latitude Web: UserID: USER03 and Branch: SESSION03. Item Classification Cycle Count Planning depends upon the ABC Class of each individual item to match the plan/schedule associated. In some interfaces, this value may be imported from the host ERP system; however, this is typically managed within Latitude. 1) This is set within Latitude's Item Branch maintenance within Latitude Web. Go to Main Menu Administration Item Maintenance Item Branch Maintenance. 2) Enter item BND 503 and click on the Properties tab. Here you will see that this is an A class item. This is where the ABC Class can be managed on a per item basis. The SESSION03 branch has been loaded with items of varying ABC Class values (A, B and C). Plan Definition With items classified, we now need to create corresponding plan definitions. The Plan Definition is what ties the cycle count plan to a particular ABC Class. 1) Navigate to the Cycle Count Plan Definitions page Main Menu Administration Planning Maintenance Cycle Count Plan Definitions. 2) Click the '+' button to create a new record. 3) Give the new plan a name 'A' and description 'A Class Items' and then set the Item ABC Class to 'A'. 4) Set a default reason code. This will be the code used for any adjustments made because of counts on the plan. Setting this to '0' will use the default. 5) Uncheck the "Count All Items At Bin?" checkbox. 6) Count All Items At Bin. This property will optionally change the count from a "by item" count to a "by bin" count. A "by bin" count has the benefit of finding misplaced inventory, at the cost of additional counts that may or may not meet the current plan's needs.
