22 – October 8, 2009 The Review-Mirror MYHILL, DOUGLAS A. - Born May 17, 1920, Lon- don England, died peace- fully in his sleep October 1, 2009. Much beloved husband of Helen, his wife of 66 happy years, his sister Patricia Weak- ley, his four children, Pamela Park (William), Robert (Shari), Geoffrey (Ann), Penny Scissons (Warren Craig), nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Doug came to Canada in 1954, having served in the Royal Army during the war years in the develop- ment of gun-laying radar, with service in France, Belgium, Holland and Greece, followed by a career in the British Min- istry of Defence. He served in the Canadian Department of National Defence from 1954 to 1960 and joined the Department of Supply and Services in 1960. Doug attended the National Defence College in 1964 and retired as Director General Supply in 1982. In their retire- ment years, he and Helen moved to an old stone farmhouse in Westport where they spent 20 happy years before mov- ing to their home in Kingston. There will be a private cremation with a memorial service to be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Westport at a future date. Charlie Ward, in his 82nd year. Beloved hus- band of the late Barbara Ann Morris. Fondly remembered by his adopted son, Terry Sararas of RR#1, Port- land. Sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and friends. The family received friends at the Scotland Funeral Home, 27 Main Street, Elgin on Tuesday from 7-9. Special thanks to all our friends and family who came to see our new special girl while we were home in Westport. 90th Birthday October 18 Irene Mancino Irene Mancino (nee Lynn) was born in Westport in 1919. She attended Holidays Public School and graduated from Westport High School in 1935. She married Peter Mancino in 1941 and they had four children Lynn, Shirley, Grace, and Michael. All have homes on Sand Lake in Westport. For forty years, she along with her parents and siblings operated a small business on Sand Lake named Lynn's Cozy Cottages. In 1987 she designed and financed the construction of a road that now has 12 residences. This road will be dedicated in her honor and unoffi- cially named Irene Road. She will celebrate with her immediate family which includes five grandchildren and partners and 10 great grandchildren.
