The building was con- structed in the 1850's and did not become a blacksmith shop until the 1870's, which may explain the unusual floor choice for a place that housed forges, and probably saw its fair share of sparks, flames and smoke. The building still has its original wood plank flooring, dating back to the 1850's, and also displays one of the coffins that was manufactured here when it was owned by Conley & Truelove.
