Some Basic Information Your Neptune Pool Pump and your Neptune Filter are essential to each other. They are the very heart of your pool. Ensuring your filter is clean and on for long enough each day, your pump should be able to turn over 1 1/2 to 2 times the whole volume of water in your pool on a daily basis. Normally 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon or evening. This can be reduced in the winter months. Firstly: How does my pool work? Your swimming pool is a huge volume of water contained in a hole in the ground, with pipes carrying water to your pump and filter beneath the ground (or above if it is an above ground pool). Your pool has both a pump and a filter.
