of off-road racers
become enchanted
by the allure of
winning on the
Baja Peninsula,
they look to the veterans who
have been successful there. While
many can provide guidance, racing
knowledge, and motivation from
their past efforts, Ivan Stewart's
accomplishments are extraordinary,
and are the reasons why he is
considered a "legend" in SCORE
desert racing. "Ivan Stewart was
a childhood hero of mine. So I've
gotten all my information from
one of the smartest guys. If you
ask someone like Ivan Stewart or
Larry Ragland who's done it and
won, those are the guys you really
need to listen to," says BJ Baldwin.
Stewart is a mentor and statesman
for the sport. But he's known to
millions of people around the world,
as Ivan "Ironman" Stewart. With a
nickname like that, racers look to his
accomplishments to see how they

of his desert racing career, Stewart
