SCORE NEWS SCORE IMPLEMENTS NEW 1600CC ENGINE MODIFICATION New changes for 1600cc engines used in SCORE competition were announced during the Inaugural SCORE Baja Sur 500 race. According to SCORE Tech Director Art Savedra, Class 1-2 1600, 5-1600, and 11 will be allowed to use an optional engine formula with 1600cc maximum displacement and a maximum compression ratio of 8.0:1, (8.0 to 1). The engines must use stock replacement heads with no porting may be used following the same valve and spark plug dimensions as the current SCORE rule. Intake end castings must be completely stock with no polishing allowed, an Empi or Webber 40 or 44 carburetor may be used and tube style intake manifold only. Class 5-1600 and Class 11 engines must use a 26mm PUM venturi maximum, Class 1-2-1600 must use a 25mm PUM venturi maximum for two seat, and 24mm PUM venturi for single seat. All engines must run on a maximum of 91 Octane pump gas only. Venturi inserts for the EMPI or Webber 40 and 44 will be sold through SCORE. SJ JACKSON MOTORSPORTS GROUP SPONSORS COLTON UDALL Jackson Motorsports Group announced that it is sponsoring Colton Udall, who competed and won the Pro Moto class in the Inaugural Bud Light SCORE Baja Sur 500 race. Udall's motorcycle ran on the newly released Michelin Desert Racing Tires that have been used at the Dakar race which are now being supplied by the Jackson Motorsports Group, a leading motorsports, event and race tire distribution company. "We are excited that a proven winner like Colton chose to partner with us on our entrance into two-wheel racing," says Darrell Jackson, President and CEO of Jackson Motorsports Group. The company also recently opened a new facility outside of San Diego, CA and will soon be announcing how riders can get desert race support, that also includes radio communications and pit support. "I hope to work with Jackson and to race on Michelin tires for two reasons," says Colton Udall. "The company's strong reputation and their commitment to helping thousands of drivers compete and win in the desert." Jackson Motorsports Group is the exclusive provider for non DOT off- road BFGoodrich racing tires. While the company has been involved in motorsports racing for nearly 20 years, this is the first time Jackson Motorsports Group has entered into desert motorcycle racing. SJ RICK WALLACE LOOSES BATTLE WITH CANCER Rick "Wally" Wallace, known to the desert racing community for his iconic painting schemes,succomed to cancer on April 7, 2015. Wallace began painting VW's, cars and motorcycles in Huntington Beach, California. After several years, Wallace opened Wally World Designs in Hesperia, California and soon became one of the most famous and sought- after painters. It wasn't until late in his career that Wallace became focused on painting for the off- road community.
