RACING WITH AND AGAINST DAD While the competition is tough, an added twist is that Wilson has been competing against his father Ronny all season long. "We don't think much about who is going to beat each other on points," said Wilson. "We're actually focused on the goal of getting a Red Kap SCORE Milestone Award, which is awarded to those racers who finish every mile of every SCORE race in a season. That's huge for me and my dad, as well as our other driver Kyle Quinn, who's married to my cousin Amy. We just try to get to the finish line first and worry about the points later. For now, the points standings are in the back of my head, though I have to watch where Jamie Huerta Jr. is during the race because he's in second. I also have to watch where my dad is because he's third in points too. When we get about half way through the SCORE Baja 1000 I'll be thinking about what I need to do to win it." Even though he is competing against dad, the goal for all the members of Wilson Motorsports team is to get both cars across the finish line ahead of everyone else without any mishaps. "We are at a competition level now, and Kyle and I are definitely trying to beat my dad's car," said Wilson. "Kyle and I have similar driving styles. He seems to start the race and hands the car to me mid-way and gives me a car in a good position. He's been a great teammate since we started." In addition to these drivers, Wilson's cousin Brian, will be driving the third leg of the SCORE Baja 1000 for the team this year, and teammate Ricky Hardy is the navigator for Wilson in the number 153 car. 069 SCORE JOURNAL
