IN PURSUIT OF A CLASS 1 CHAMPIONSHIP Brad, who drives the number 153 buggy is in the lead for the Class 1 Championship for 2016. This, of course, can only happen if the SCORE Baja 1000 goes as planned for this racing phenon, who drives his Jimco-built LS-1 equipped buggy across the terra firma with the confidence of a seasoned pro. He came in sixth at the SCORE San Felipe 250, third at the SCORE Baja 500, and second at the Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge (fourth overall). While the Class 1 Championship isn't fully wrapped-up yet, Wilson knows it will be tough competing against other contenders such as Jamie Huerta in the number 175 car, as well as his own father Ronny Wilson in the number 138 car. Wilson is prepared for the 49th SCORE Baja 1000, and spoke about how supportive his family has been from the moment he jumped into his first race car. "We are first in Class 1 Unlimited and in the top 10 overall at the moment," said Wilson. "We're within 20 to 30 points of being on top of the overall standings, but it's going to take a good finish at the SCORE Baja 1000." While he's within reach of the 2016 SCORE Overall Championship, there are several other competitors in his way that Wilson will have to beat at the "1000." These include SCORE Trophy Truck racers Billy Wilson (no relation) and Apdaly Lopez, as well as Trophy Truck Spec racers Chad Broughton and Elias Hanna, all who have more points than Wilson heading into the race.
