LIVING Eat, Drink & Be Social Bacchus Dinner Club sets the scene Words by Marta A Oppenheimer Bacchus, the Roman God of Wine, knew how to throw a fabulous party –which is why it comes as no surprise that when Floridians are in need of a great drink, food, and company, they turn to the Bacchus Dinner Club. After all, the name is a promise of abundance and taste. Bacchus Dinner Club plans their events at some of the trendiest and up-to-date places around town. Think seafood dinner at a newly opened fancy restaurant in the Brickell area, where the shrimp and fish overflow from large family-style serving dishes. How about a cozy brunch in Coral Gables with copious amounts of pancakes? Or perhaps, a Chinese food feast in the middle of downtown? Bacchus hosts them all, even happy hours at well-known favorites. There is no better way to try a new place or return to a familiar restaurant than on a Bacchus night. Not only is a special and creative menu prepared for the event, at an affordable price, the venue is always conducive to socializing and meeting new friends. Many attend the events for the group itself. Siri Chuaindhara is the brains behind the entire delicious and social endeavor. When she declares, "I am better than your iPhone" she could not be more right. With her beautiful smile and bubbly personality, Siri completes each Bacchus event. Who doesn't remember Siam Lotus Room on US1, better known as the "ugly green building"? The beloved restaurant belonged to her parents, and is where Siri grew up —in the middle of it all. Today, she masterminds the Bacchus events, occasionally taking a 80 MIAMI LIVING break to enjoy some Thai cuisine from her sister's wonderful restaurant, Atchana's East West Kitchen, located in the Mutiny Hotel in Coconut Grove (the Lychee Sangria is a must-have). Food certainly runs in this family's veins. In addition to feeding the lives of those at her dinner parties, Siri also helps those in need. Bacchus is involved with several non-profit groups and supports organizations such as, Wounded Warriors and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, by hosting cheery Happy Hours. They also donate the occasional dinner- for-two to groups like, Caring About the Strays in Miami and the Himalayan Healers, the world's first and only massage school that teaches the "Untouchables" in Nepal the healing arts, thereby lifting them from poverty and oppression. Food, fun, and fundraising –the perfect trinity! Bacchus' website is a great source of information – sharing everything from what's new around town to the hottest spots for dinner and happy hour. Get acquainted with local chefs and all their culinary secrets. Not all secrets are revealed, but they do share a recipe or two with the Bacchus group. There is definitely a new, fruity cocktail concoction that must be recreated at home. Break out the vodka and rum! Check out photos of past dinners and see how much fun it is to mingle with friends (new and old), eat, and drink. With Bacchus Dinner Club around, there is no excuse to stay home with a frozen dinner and a rerun of Law & Order. Go to bacchusdinnerclub.com today! ML
