U.S. ICE RINK NEWS Updates from the United States Ice Rink Association 22 / JULY.AUGUST.2018 USICERINKS.COM Board of Directors Elections to Be Held in July The United States Ice Rink Association will be conducting its annual Board of Directors elections during the month of July. The following elected membership representative positions will be open: (2) Facility and (1) At-Large. Members elected to the U.S. Ice Rinks Board of Directors serve three-year terms starting in August. Nomination forms will be sent by email to all members on July 2 and nominations will be accepted through July 16. Ballots will be distributed to all members July 17 and will be accepted through August 3. Winners will be announced in the network member e-newsletter on August 7. 2018 North American Rink Conference & Expo a success! Thank you to all who attended the 16th annual NARCE, held May 22-25 in Columbus, Ohio. This was the fifth and final year in Columbus (we are heading to Buffalo, N.Y., next year) and it turned out to be one of the best ever. Below is a short recap of the event: • Courses: 10 • Presenters: 53 • Sponsors: 14 • Exhibit Booths: 83 • Exhibiting Companies: 72 • Staff & Volunteers: 14 • Total Attendees: 582 We would like to thank all of the volunteers, instructors, exhibitors and sponsors that made the event so great. We would also like to thank the staff at the Hyatt Regency, Greater Columbus Convention Center, Nationwide Arena and the Chillers for all their hard work and support over the past five years. CIT Recertification Exam Offered at 2018 Regional Training Programs United States Ice Rink Association members will be able to recertify their Certified Ice Technician (CIT) designation in 2018 by successfully completing a written CIT Recertification Exam which will be offered at all Regional Training Program (RTP) locations (see RTP brochure on page 25 in this issue of RINK). Individuals who have been issued a CIT professional designation by the United States Ice Rink Association are required to recertify every five years from the year they originally achieved the CIT. In addition, CITs must also renew their membership each year with the United States Ice Rink Association to maintain their CIT status. Online self-study materials will be available to individuals that register to take the CIT Recertification exam.
