Through seven games in the
Big Ten, the Boilermakers have
played four into overtime, the
latest coming Sunday at Michigan State. And like the first three
OT games, Purdue again came
out on top, gaining control early
in the extra session and winning
at the Breslin Center for the first
time since 2007.
The victory gave Purdue sole
possession of second place in the
Big Ten, a game behind Penn State.
Purdue, which led by eight
with less than five minutes to
go, saw its lead evaporate with
a 10-0 Spartan run. But the Boilermakers responded by getting
a critical tying basket by Drey
Mingo, then a defensive hold in
the final seconds.
"This was a really gritty effort," Coach Sharon Versyp said in
her post-game radio interview.
Key Player
Mingo was outstanding, playing likely her best game this season; she finished with 22 points
on 10-of-14 shooting and had 10
rebounds, recording her fourth
double-double of the year. Purdue

Opponent: Indiana
Location: Mackey Arena
When: 6:30 p.m., Thursday
Notables: The Hoosiers are 10-9 overall but only 1-5 in the
Big Ten, losers of four straight with an average margin of defeat of
20 points. … Indiana plays at Northwestern Monday night before
taking on the Boilers on Thursday. … First-year coach Curt Miller
is struggling to get the Hoosiers to score; they're averaging only
48 points per game during Big Ten play, with only two legitimate
scoring options in Aulani Sinclair and Jasmine McGhee. … Purdue
leads the series 49-25 and has won seven consecutive.
Key Stretch
Leading by one with under a
minute to go in OT — and without KK Houser, who had fouled
out with 16 points and 10 rebounds — reserve April Wilson
created a small opening on the
baseline and hit a 15-foot jumper
for a three-point lead.
After Purdue staved off two
short shot attempts at the other
end by MSU, Courtney Moses
sealed the victory from the line,
hitting the second of her two attempts for a four-point lead.
