Trends Favor Purdue
Dating back 20 years to the 1982-83 season, here's how unranked Purdue
teams have fared against Indiana:
Games in Mackey Arena*:
Purdue: 7 wins
Indiana: 3
Games in Assembly Hall:
Indiana: 5 wins
Purdue: 2
* Last year's 78-61 loss to No. 20 Indiana on Feb. 4 in Mackey ended a streak of five straight victories by unranked Purdue teams against the Hoosiers in West Lafayette.

The brothers Johnson embrace after the Boilermakers' overtime win over Iowa. The duo —
Terone is on the left; Ronnie on the right — had their best game together as college teammates, combining for 32 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists and just one turnover. It was
the Boilermakers' first overtime win in Mackey Arena in five games dating back to a 76-70
win over Michigan State on Jan. 25, 2004.
Jan, 28, 1917 • Purdue defeats Indiana 22-15 in Bloomington in Ward "Piggy" Lambert's first season
at Purdue. Lambert took a year hiatus the following season for World War I duty, but for the next 27-plus
years he compiled a 30-13 mark against the Hoosiers, a big reason the Boilermakers have a 112-86 advantage in the series to this day.
Jan. 28, 1992 • Purdue sustains its worst loss to Indiana, a 41-point blowout in Bloomington in which
the Hoosiers embarrassed the Boilermakers. The good thing for Purdue fans is that six weeks later Purdue
responded with one of its greatest upsets ever, a 61-59 win over the No. 4 Hoosiers in the final game of the
regular season. Woody Austin (20 points) and Craig Riley (15 points, seven boards) spurred
the shocker.
Jan. 29, 1995 • Stacey Lovelace comes up just two field goals short of the Boilermaker
record with 14 baskets in the Boilermakers' dramatic 78-77 win at Northwestern. The 22ndranked Boilermakers finished the season with a 24-8 record and advanced to the Elite Eight
under Coach Lin Dunn, in part, because it won several close games that season.
