Boilers Work Overtime To Beat Hawkeyes
Big Ten record jumps above .500 with win
Anthony Johnson tries to break free from
the clutches of Iowa freshman center Adam
Woodbury. The game got physical in the
second half, but it was called evenly as both
teams were whistled for 21 fouls.
Terone Johnson works to slow Devyn Marble
(4) but gets no help from the Hawkeyes'
Gabriel Olaseni. The Boilermaker defense was
stout, especially in the first half, when Iowa
shot just 15.4 percent and made only four
field goals, numbers not seen often, if ever,
in the history of Mackey Arena.
Through his first 20 games, Ronnie
Johnson's gotten a bit wide-eyed at times
when looking for his shot. Here, he tries
to get the ball over Melsahn Basabe in
the first half. In addition to scoring 15
points, he didn't commit a turnover for
the fourth time in 20 games.
Coach Matt Painter was dressed in his "Coaches
vs. Cancer" tennis shoes, but his facial expression reflected a stressful afternoon for the
Boilermaker coach, now 11-3 all-time vs. Iowa.
