MONTH HERE 2020 USAHOCKEYMAGAZINE.COM // 23 By Author name By Harry Thompson // Illustrations by Don Gruhlke "I sat there with Sally, we sat there, we two. And I said, "how I wish we had something to do!' We sat in the house. We did nothing at all. So all we could do was to Sit! Sit! Sit! Sit! And we did not like it. Not one little bit." The Cat In The Hat by Dr. Suess hese are challenging times. There's no getting around it. The coronavi - rus has impacted every aspect of our daily lives, from going to school to hanging out with our friends to even going to the store. And, of course, it brought the curtain down on the hockey season way too soon. If there is a silver lining to this dark cloud that has descended upon us it's that we have time to take a step back from our busy lives and think about what's really important. That means spending time with family, doing all those things we never seem to find the time to do and discov - ering a new hobby or interest. Many of the ideas mentioned here were created to help you get through these times of sheltering in place at home, but they can easily become part of your regular routine to improve your strength, skills, speed, stamina and overall athleticism. While the hockey season may have been put on hold, that doesn't mean you can't do things that will help you get ready for when the rinks reopen. Whether that means having fun as you work on your shot, develop a new skill or improve your understanding of the game, this is your time to step up your game so you're ready when it's time to get back on the ice.
