MARK POST GRAND MARSHAL Legendary Baja Racer Mark Post is the Grand Marshal for the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250 By SCORE Journal Staff Photos by Jack Wright NMedia3 One of SCORE’s iconic legendary racers, Mark Post, is the Grand Marshal for this year’s King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250. Post is a prominent businessman in Southern California and Las Vegas, who has been active in desert racing for nearly 30 years and is most widely known for driving his “Black Diamond” Riviera Racing SCORE Trophy Truck that was built in 1993. “I am honored to be the Grand Marshal of this event,” said Post. “I was very fortunate to have my father introduce me to Baja racing and over the years, the SCORE San Felipe has been my favorite. The SCORE San Felipe 250 is one of the toughest race courses and it has an amazing history which I am glad to be a part of.” Throughout his extensive racing career in SCORE, Post has won three SCORE San Felipe 250 races overall, with his first SCORE San Felipe 250 in 1998 in Class 1, teaming up with Jerry Whelchel. He won the race again in 2004 with Whelchel and in 2007 when Post teamed up with Rob MacCachren. Other career highlights include seven career SCORE Trophy Truck race victories in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2007 when he also took the SCORE Trophy Truck Season Championship. In his remarkable 2007 SCORE season Post finished fourth in the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, first in the SCORE San Felipe 250, fourth in the SCORE Baja 500, second in the SCORE Terrible’s Las Vegas Primm 300, and first in the SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup short-course event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with Rob MacCachren driving. It was in this race where Post made headlines after being chased and arrested by Mexican Federales as the SCORE San Felipe 250 ran through an Ensenada highway. It was up to SCORE’s Oscar Ramos who was able to smooth the situation and allow Post to take his victory without issue. He capped the 2007 SCORE season with a win at the 2007 40th Anniversary of the SCORE Baja 1000 with Rob MacCachren and Carl Renezeder in the #3 Riviera Racing SCORE Trophy Truck and earning himself a SCORE Milestone Award. Now at age 65, Post continues to race in SCORE on and off, in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legends class. Considered one of the top SCORE Trophy racers in history, SCORE is honored to have him as the Grand Marshal for the King Shocks 37th SCORE San Felipe 250. SJ
