PullUSA: How did you get involved in clay target shooting ? Sierra Sitton: A close friend of mine who is also a great shot, Jayli Roller, encour- aged me to sign up. I wasn't sure if I would like it, as I had never shot a shotgun before. I was hooked after the first day and I love the challenge this sport gives me. PullUSA: What is your favorite memory from competing in the League? Sitton: I would have to say how Jayli and I love to plan out fun, random, and unusual funny outfits on the line. It tends to bring laughs and show everyone to take it serious, but not forget to have fun. PullUSA: What advice do you have for younger athletes? Sitton: Focus on your form and mechanics, and not the scores. Scores will come with good mechanics. It will be really hard at first. Embrace the down times as well as the good! The mistakes made are some of the best learning curves. PullUSA: Who has been your biggest influence or role model? Sitton: Honestly, I wouldn't be where I am today in trap without my coach and mentor Blaine Dukart. I have been very fortunate to have the support of my peers at the club and my parents. PullUSA: Final words? Sitton: Keep yourself humble, there will always be better athletes out there somewhere. Always enjoy your shining moments, but embrace others and their moments to shine as well. Taking first in the State is an honor. I was up against equally good competition, so I don't take this achievement for granted. Each issue of PullUSA features different high school clay target athletes exhibiting exceptional character and passion for the sport and their communities. ✪ THE LEAD ON T HE L INE THIS LAST FALL, SIERRA SITTON HAD THE TOP OVERALL SEASON AVERAGE IN THE NORTH DAKOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL CLAY TARGET LEAGUE.
