F or Andrew De Souza, Northeastern Junior College (NJC) is a family tradition. A 2017 graduate and the college's current coordinator of campus safety, his brother and grandmother also attended NJC, and his mother taught there. What sets the college apart? De Souza says it's NJC's tight-knit community. "I've been plugged into the NJC community for a long time. The biggest thing that makes us different is that type of meaningful connection," De Souza said. "I can't really think of any student who hasn't been able to build a meaningful relationship with some type of college employee—whether it be me as the campus safety, or their professors or coaches. It's very tight knit and very community oriented here." 36 PULLUSA MAGAZINE SPRING 2025 THE FIELD C OL L EGE SP O T L IGH T PRIDE ON THE PLAINS NORTHEASTERN JUNIOR COLLEGE PRIORITIZES ACADEMICS, RELATIONSHIPS, AND MARKSMANSHIP by EMILY SIZEN E N R O L L M E N T S I Z E O F T E A M L O CAT I O N 1,500 8 Sterling, CO njc.edu NORTHEASTERN JUNIOR COLLEGE'S HOME R ANGE IS THE LOGAN COUNT Y SHOOTING SPORTS COMPLEX.
