16 PULLUSA MAGAZINE FALL 2025 THE LEAD R A NGE ROV ER ILLINOIS WINTERS CAN BE BRU- TAL, BUT LOCAL TRAP SHOOTING ENTHUSIASTS DON'T HAVE TO PUT OFF PRACTICING THEIR FAVOR- ITE SPORT. All they have to do is visit Diamond Indoor Trap & Pistol Range, the only indoor, certified trap range in the U.S. Inside this bright, climate-controlled facility, the weather is perfect as clay tar- gets soar, shotguns click, and shooters of all ages forge bonds with members of their shared community. "We built this facility because there weren't any indoor ranges where kids and adults could practice year-round," said Christy Baine, who owns Diamond with her husband, Leon. "Our goal has always been to provide a safe environment where people of all ages could learn the sport, build confidence, and enjoy shooting with- out worrying about the weather." FOUR SEASONS Diamond offers the chance to train in any season, with one five-stand and two five-station traps with a max distance of 27 yards. In 2023, the couple put in a four- lane pistol range, and last year, added vir- tual handgun and shotgun target shooting. Virtual is a great first step for newcomers wary of recoil, but Christy and Leon said it's also a great way to help trap shooters struggling to figure out exact- ly what they are doing wrong. In addition, the facility boasts a conference area that has hosted a wealth of hunter safety classes, corporate meetings, birthday parties, and more. Diamond is open 362 days a year, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.—and most importantly to the Baines—no membership is required. "You don't have to be part of a club to experience what we offer here," Leon said. "We're proud to open our by DAVE POND V I S I T O U R WEB S I T E F O R M O R E L E AG U E N E WS A N D I N F O!
