As I close out my first full year as CEO of the LoRa Alliance
®
,
I am incredibly proud to share that it has been an excellent year
for both the Alliance's activities and the traction of LoRaWAN
technology in the market. Significantly, the level of activities
and member engagement in the Alliance has increased across
the board this year, which has driven our strong results.
We capped off a fantastic year by announcing that LoRaWAN
reached 125M deployed devices and achieved a 25%
compound annual growth rate (CAGR). Our largest member
network hit 10M (Zenner), followed by several other multimil-
lion-device networks from Actility, Netmore, The Things Indus-
tries, and Veolia. Most of these are utility and multiple-use-case
networks. Another indicator of high-scale adoption is strong
growth in large, single-use, single-geography deployments,
such as cow tracking in Australia/New Zealand, which
reached 500K (RAK Wireless), and more than 700K panic
buttons in the United States (Centegix). There are many
examples across diverse use cases and geographies.
Additionally, the most extensive networks are experiencing
30% to 50% growth, which will spread to the rest of the
ecosystem. All these deployments prove that LoRaWAN
is in an exponential growth phase, and the adoption
curve continues to get steeper.
Beyond technology and deployments, our ability to
engage and amplify the ecosystem continues to grow.
In 2025, the LoRa Alliance's digital community surpassed
90,000 followers and subscribers globally, including more
than 21,000 LinkedIn newsletter subscribers. This reach
allows us not only to promote the evolution of LoRaWAN
®
,
but critically to showcase and amplify our members'
successes to a broad, public audience.
If we dive into the data a bit more, utilities, led by water, have
the largest-scale LoRaWAN deployments. Smart buildings
have tremendous momentum, as LoRaWAN now leads as the
top wireless technology for facility management. Smart industry
is accelerating its expansion beyond wired connectivity, and
LoRaWAN is well positioned to support that effort. Agriculture's
remote deployments take full advantage of LoRaWAN's
benefits. Tracking is dominated by campus-wide use cases,
such as construction, mining, seaports, and hospitals, and
leverages nationwide networks where available, complemented
by satellite networks. The smart-home market is currently
relatively underdeveloped, but consumer-oriented devices
are starting to proliferate.
