The sophomore back from the Chicago area is one of the Big Ten's most explosive running backs with 15 runs of more than 20 yards, eight over 40. Boilermaker observers don't need to be reminded that Boilermaker running backs have a combined two rushes over 20 yards this season, both occurring last week against Illinois. Ricardo Allen concurs that his final game at Purdue comes down to basics. "Everybody just has to do their job," Allen said. "They run a no huddle and they run spread but the quarterback is going to have chances to drop back and get sacked. As a defense we have to score. We have to get turnovers on the goal line and we have to be able to put our offense in good field position. "If we do not do well as a defense, it is going to be hard to keep up. We have to try to keep them boxed in and not let them get very big plays, that is what they live on. If you get turnovers and you get them off rhythm of what they do then you can make the game a really fun game. " Purdue can only hope it turns out to be that simple. j What You Need To Know About Saturday's Opponent BY ALAN KARPICK AKarpick@GoldandBlack.com WORTH NOTING R IU coach Kevin Wilson is pleased to be in a rivalry game. He likes the notion of having a true rival in the same state. "It's actually been a strong rivalry," Wilson said of the Purdue-IU matchup. "This is a strong one. They've had their fair share of wins and won more than we have. We have to rise our team up and compete and have a good week and do what we can to put the I on the link (on the Bucket) for us this week." R There has been a lot of talk that Indiana defensive coordinator Doug Mallory may be on his way out. After all, the Hoosier defense is the worst in the Big Ten, and appears to be about the only thing that is holding the Hoosier program at bay. "Fans are clamoring for a new defensive coordinator; they don't think Mallory is the right guy," said Peegs.com's Matt Weaver. "It's hard to argue against that, because the defense is worse in The last time... Year 3 than in Year 1. I said before the season that I thought this could be a seven-win team if the defense is (just) mediocre." R The Indiana offense is about as quick to strike as any you will find.
