But the programs will find a way to squeeze it in; the game is the only regularseason matchup between the two rivals this season. "We'd have to (reschedule), I think," Versyp said. NEED BETTER DEFENSE KK Houser has a harsh assessment of the Boilermakers' recent defensive efforts. In back-to-back games, Purdue has given up a combined 186 points, including 89 in an 11-point loss at Ohio State in the Big Ten opener Thursday. "We're very lazy on defense right now," Houser said. "… We're not keeping (opponents) out of the middle, hands aren't up on shooters and we're helping off of shooters. We're very lazy." The numbers aren't pretty. The Boilermakers rank secondto-last in the Big Ten in points given up, allowing 69.8 points per game, and last in field goal defense; opponents are making 42.7 percent of their shot attempts, including 32.6 percent on three-pointers, the secondworst in the league. "We just haven't been efficient, I wouldn't say lazy," Versyp said. "Footwork, positioning, we need to be more aware of, understanding that when you force people to the sideline (rather than the middle), it takes away options.
