Nov. 8 is billed Try Hockey For Free Day and 500 associations around the country will host youth Try Hockey events. In order to assist adult leagues with promoting the same type of event, USA Hockey's adult department provides a searchable map where USA Hockey- registered adult leagues can list their information and potential players can search for Try Hockey events nearby. To list your USA Hockey-sanctioned try hockey event for November, visit AdultHockey.USAHockey.com, click on Events, and then Try Hockey. You can also search for events on that landing page. If you need assistance with best practices when hosting an adult Try Hockey event, please contact USA Hockey's adult department at AdultHockey@USAHockey.org or (800) 566-3288. , National Skating Month is an opportunity for rinks, member clubs and programs to celebrate skating. We can invite new families to try ice-skating by offering free lessons, conducting skating demonstrations and promoting skating with local media outlets. Through a series of organized on- and off-ice activities, everyone enjoys a fun-filled day at the rink. 2015 National Skating Month is celebrated throughout the month of January. Host one event or a dozen — it's up to you. Register online to host an event(s) and receive a National Skating Month kit(s) at usfigureskating.org. Each kit is $35. Upon registration, you will receive an open house kit that includes posters, a how-to handbook, a media packet with sample press releases and announcements for customization, raffle items, autograph cards, skating stickers, lip balm, t-shirts, zipper pulls and other great items. It's all done for you — just set the date and follow the instructions to begin hosting a fun day at the rink. Sign up through Nov. 30 or until supplies last.
