14 CP-CARILLO Bullet Pistons For Off-Road Engines The CP-Carrillo line of Bullet pistons are specifically intended for off-road engines that must endure severe punishment for extended periods of competition. These pistons are manufactured from 2618 T-61 alloy and utilize an "X" forging for added structural support and durability. The Bullet Series includes all of the company's engineering enhancements, including anti-detonation grooves, accumulator groove, pick lock grooves and double force-fed pin oilers with reservoir groove. CP's X-Style pistons include CP-Carrillo's thick wall 51 series wrist pins and our premium Bullet Metric ring set which includes a gas nitride steel top ring, taper hook groove second ring, and low tension oil ring. CP-Carrillo's X-style pistons are ready to drop in to an engine, and should improve horsepower and durability out of the box and is available on the shelf. MANLEY Custom Titanium Valves Engine builders intent on making big power in off-road LS based engines, focus on the ability to regulate how much fuel goes in 14 14 13 the engine, and how quickly the exhaust is scavenged out. Losing a valve during a race is catastrophic. That's why Manley's one-piece forged titanium valves have long been one of the standards of the performance industry. Having earned a reputation for reliability in many racing venues, Manley offers over 250 different off- the-shelf part numbers for its titanium valves that cover a wide range of applications and sizes. The company now offers an expanded range of custom options for LS engines, including hollow stem intake valves, and the availability of a special "thin film" seat face coating and "fluted dish" lightening. The hollow stem titanium intake valves provide a 10 to12 percent reduction in weight over conventional "solid" valves. The valves are precision gun- drilled and feature a generous corner radius to eliminate stress risers. A hard steel tip can be employed on valves with a 5/16- inch or larger stem diameter. Dramatic improvements in valve seat face wear are achieved with the application of a "thin film" seat face coating. This coating also serves to maintain an optimum seal between the valve seat face and the seat in the cylinder head to help produce maximum horsepower. For extreme condition where weight is a major concern, additional lightening of the valve is possible through machining the combustion face of the valve with a fluted dish. Special head shapes and seat cuts are also available through Manley' custom titanium valve program. Standard "square" grooves or the Manley-developed Bead-LocĀ® design are also available.
