Ben Ruggles It's with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend Ben Ruggles, who lost a year-long battle with brain cancer. Ben served in a variety of roles in the ice rink industry. He was the Director of Rink Operations at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts for the past 18 years, served on the Board of Directors of North East Ice Skating Managers Association, was part of our RINK Magazine Editorial Board and was one of our instructors at the North American Rink Conference and Expo. Ben began his instructing career at NARCE in 2010, co-instructing our Operations and Risk Management course. In 2011, he led a team of instructors and helped in the creation of several presentations in our first year offering of the Human Resource Management course. Ben continued to teach HRM through 2018 and was well known for his 'T' Exercise. On our RINK Magazine Editorial Board, Ben contributed many times as an author on risk management, staff training, communication and professionalism. He was always willing to proof other authors or voice his opinion on some of our agency pieces. We're going to miss Ben. He was a good guy and his passion for our industry was unmatched. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and all that also knew him. IN MEMORY OF April 3, 1958 – December 23, 2019 44 / JANUARY.FEBRUARY.2020 USICERINKS.COM
