VANSPEED OVERLANDING VEHICLES Taking Overlanding To The Next Level By SCORE Journal Staff Photos Provided by Vanspeed Starting with a passion for travel and action sports, Duran Morley founded Vansped, a vehicle outfitter who creates multi-functional, fun, and reliable Overlanding vehicles by crafting unique features for adventure and comfortable living outdoors. Vanspeed has been building modern Overlanding vehicles for more than seven years and they begin with a Mercedes Sprinter as a basis for every build. From there, they speak to the customer and create a van that is built to suit their specific needs. Their build quality is so high, it has earned the Mercedes-Benz ExpertUpfitter stamp of approval and is recognized and certified by the RV Industry Association (RVIA). For those seeking a premiere Overlanding vehicle be it for Baja adventures, traveling across the country, or simply as a better way to camp, Vanspeed begins with a Sprinter 144 or 170 model, depending on the interior sizes required by the customer. Four basic layouts are provided for the customer to choose from in the 144 model, and three layouts are available to choose from for 170 models. Then they work on an interior layout choosing materials, textures, and finishes, followed by the creation of the van following the plan and the needs of the customer. Builds usually take 7-8 weeks and the customer comes to their facility in Westminster, Ca to pick up their Overlanding vehicle. Vanspeed also creates Ready Built campers that have a variety of features built into them if a customer wants something already built for their purposes. All of the Vanspeed builds feature 3M insulation, sound dampening, air conditioning, and venting into all parts of the vehicle, a 40-gallon water tank, a sink with a drain system, and a six-gallon grey water tank under the sink. Sleeping accommodations include a queen-sized bed with a sitting table and your choice of an indoor or outdoor shower (or both). Power comes from a 2000W inverter/charger and uses two AGM (no maintenance) batteries and a 40-amp charging isolator. A solar set-up is also available and cooking is made easy with a two-burner induction stove, a fridge/freezer, and a microwave. Outside, campsite lights, side steps, and cargo racks, including optional surfboard racks are available, as well as other options such as an awning and tire rack and more. Prices for this vehicle range from $150K and up, depending on any specific requirements made by the customer. More information on Vanspeed vehicles is available at https://www.vanspeedshop.com/
