RUGGED RADIO RZR XP KIT The Easy Way To Connect In Your Polaris By SCORE Journal Staff Photos Courtesy of Rugged Radios UTV owners are enjoying the ease of talking to passengers and having the ability to connect their vehicle comms with Bluetooth or cellular phones. While space in many UTVs is limited, Rugged Radios just introduced a compact kit for the Polaris RZE XP that integrates almost seamlessly into the factory dash and utilizes the OE rocker switch holes. The Rugged RZR XP Kit is based on the Rugged 696 Remote Head, a high fidelity Bluetooth intercom unit, and the M1 Race Series mobile radio that is waterproof, IP67 rated, and features digital/analog VHF band mobile transceiver and amplifier. The system also includes two intercom cables, driver PTT steering wheel button, a passenger PTT button for the vehicle grab bar, a 15’ antenna with coax cable, ½ Wave Antenna, and an active noise filter. You can choose between using the system with a helmet kit or with headsets. The radio works with all VHF business band radios operating on the same frequencies. Radio models include, but are not limited to: RDM-DB, M1, RDH-X, R1, V3, RM60, RH5R, RDH16, as well as Icom, Motorola, Kenwood business band radios, and more. The kit retails for $1868 and is specifically made to fit Polaris RZR XP model UTVs. With it installed, you can talk to passengers through helmet kits or headsets (you must define which when ordering), via the Push To Talk function, and it can connect to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, so you can also listen to music or take phone calls while enjoying your trip. Rugged Radios made installation easy so that the remote head unit fits on the vehicle’s rocker switch accessory panel for easy installation that can be completed in under two hours.
