In light of this, these sessions will review, measure, and analyze the mass of content published via these popular sites and evaluate how to best manage them for a richer online experience. These ses- sions will comment on surveillance, encryption tools, and also consider the implications our hyper- connected social graph has on our interpersonal relationships. All Keynote sessions will be simulcast in all session rooms equipped with a projector. Venue Highlights PRIVACY UNDER THE COVERS: THE NAKED TRUTH Friday, March 7: 3:30pm | Capitol View North Privacy is a legal, governmental and humanitarian soap opera evolving on a daily basis. Privacy conversations to date have done little more than make consumers suspicious and often paranoid. This discussion with two leaders in marketing science and legal privacy will dive into the real story behind data privacy, touching on how data is being collected and used, the evolution of global legislation, and how data collection and privacy can enhance or inhibit your online experiences. IT'S COMPLICATED: TEENS' SOCIAL MEDIA PRACTICES Saturday, March 8: 12:30pm | Capitol ABCD After a decade of using social network sites like MySpace and Facebook, teens have glommed on to countless new apps, from Instagram to Snapchat to hangout and share. What might seem strange from a distance actually makes sense from a teen's perspective. Building on arguments in her new book It's Complicated: The Social Lives of Networked Teens, youth expert danah boyd will help the audience interpret various teen social media practices. HOW DOUCHEBAGS RUINED DATING Monday, March 10: 9:30am | Capitol View South Online dating has become the #1 most common way that people meet their romantic partners. Yet the typical online dating experience is – for most people – painful. Women get too many spammy messages ("hey sexy" is a classic) while nice guys can't get through the noise. This presentation is an exploration of the ways that douchebags have ruined online dating for the rest of us – and what we can do about it!
