GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 13 • 12 that's a key. Our expectations of Bridget are exceptionally high because she played some last year – (Andreona) Keys is a freshman, no excuse, but she's trying to figure things out – you've got to box out, put a body on some- body and go get the board." BAYS INJURED Bays missed the overtime vs. Florida State on Wednesday night — Purdue lost 67-64 — after a nasty collision at the end of regulation. As the forward was setting a screen for Wilson on an attempted game-winner, she was ran into by Seminole guard Brittany Brown, with the hit leaving the two laying on the Mackey Arena floor. Bays got the worst of it, with her grabbing at her lower back, her shoulder and perhaps most significantly suf- fering a head injury. "It was a huge collision," Versyp said. "She was setting a screen and No. 12 plowed right over her. So I think her shoulder and head got hit, obviously, and her whole body got messed up. She's got a bad back anyways, but she got her bell rung really hard." Immediate after the game, Versyp thought Bays would be doubtful for Purdue's next game at Dayton on Sunday. SLOW STARTS HURTING In the last two games, the Boilermakers have found themselves trying to dig out of a big hole. Purdue fell behind 21-8 to George Washington on Satur- day in the first 12 minutes, be- fore rallying to get within eight in the second half. The Boiler- makers trailed 10-3 in the first five minutes against Florida State before coming back to send the game to overtime. In the last two first halves, Purdue has hit only 15 of its 53 field goal attempts, only 28.3 percent. "We've got to figure it out," Versyp said. "Maybe it's lineups, maybe it's people not execut- ing plays or not bringing us that energy." NOTES S Purdue's 3-3 start is its worst since the 2009-10 season in which began 3-5 on its way to a 15-17 record. S The Boilermakers are now only 1-7 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. S Coming into its game vs. Florida State, Purdue ranked seventh in the nation in assisted basket percentage, helping on 70.2 percent of its made field goals on the season. The Boilermakers assisted on 14 of their 21 made baskets against the Seminoles. j Ziccarelli Builders, Inc.
