Cornerback
1. Anthony Brown 9
5-11, 192, Jr.
54 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 10 PBU, 1 FR*
Brown was great in his first season as a
full-time starting corner – he played nearly
every snap – doing a fine job of slowing the
opponents' passing games. What could he
do better? Capitalize on turnover opportunities. He missed
a pick, not the first time this season it has happened,
against Indiana.
2. Antoine Lewis 23
5-10, 185, Sr. (5)
Strong Safety
1. Landon Feichter 44
6-0, 192, Sr. (5)
105 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 5 int., 3 PBU, 1 FR, 1 FF*
Feichter's will – and his ability to make
game-changing plays – will be sorely
missed next season. It's hard to replace
that kind of productivity. Will Williams be a
safety, where he played the first 10 weeks of this season,
or corner, where he started the last two?
2. Frankie Williams 24
5-9, 189, Jr.
Free Safety
1. Taylor Richards 4
5-10, 196, Sr.
46 tackles, 1 TFL, 4 PBU*
Richards' season got off to a slow start,
when he was suspended the first two
games, and never fully recovered. Still,
Purdue has questions about who starts
in 2015. Gregory had the biggest play of his career vs. IU,
recovering a fumble on his only snap.
2. Robert Gregory 7
6-1, 216, So.
Cornerback
1. Frankie Williams 24
5-9, 189, Jr.
74 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 sack, 3 int., 7 PBU, 1 FR*
Williams earned All-Big Ten second-team
acclaim, and deservedly so after playing a
couple positions well in 2014. He's proven
to be a valuable part of Purdue's secondary
and a good leader, too. But Purdue needs more depth at
cornerback.
2. Leroy Clark 3
5-10, 187, So.
Rush End
1. Jalani Phillips 89
6-4, 265, Sr.
34 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU, 1 FR*
This position – the rush end – is supposed
to be one that makes plays all over the
field, chasing the ball down wherever it
goes. Purdue didn't have enough of that.
It looks like Robinson will stay here, rather
than move back to LB, and Purdue needs him to emerge
as the player many think he can be.
2. Gelen Robinson 13
6-1, 239, Fr.
Strongside Linebacker
1. Jimmy Herman 29
6-4, 230, So.
56 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 3 PBU*
Against Indiana, Herman got put in some
less-than-ideal positions, having to guard
slot receivers in the passing game. That's a
tough matchup. But Purdue likes his athleti-
cism enough to allow him opportunities
in space.
2. Dezwan Polk-Campbell 6
6-3, 212, R-Fr.
Middle Linebacker
1. Ja'Whaun Bentley 35
6-2, 250, Fr.
76 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 1 int., 1 PBU, 3 FR*
Bentley played a ton of snaps this season,
as only a true freshman, getting in on about
97 percent. And he was productive, being
Purdue's second-most productive tackler.
He was good and can be even better.
2. Garrett Hudson 16
6-3, 230, R-Fr.
Weakside Linebacker
1. Danny Ezechukwu 36
6-2, 246, R-Fr.
43 tackles, 3.0 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 1 int., 2 FF*
Ezechukwu's season ended disappoint-
ingly, as he was ejected from the IU game
after making inadvertent contact with an
official in what appeared to be a botched
call. But that doesn't erase the strides he made at the end
of the season, when he solidified himself as an important
returnee for the Boilermakers.
2. Andy James Garcia 42
6-0, 217, So.
Defensive End
1. Ryan Russell 99
6-5, 273, Sr.
44 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 3 sacks, 1 PBU*
Russell might not have had the career many
wanted — or predicted — but in his senior sea-
son he produced more than the numbers might
indicate. He consistently played hard, giving
more effort than he had in years past. That will be missed. And
where does Purdue get a pass rush moving forward?
2. Evan Panfil 95
6-4, 251, So.
Nose Tackle
1. Ra'Zahn Howard 14
6-3, 323, So.
20 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU*
Howard clogged up space on the inside for the
Boilermakers, yet he couldn't break off blocks
enough to make plays in the backfield. That
could come with more experience. And he'll
need to better execute his assignments, rather than missing
them to try to make a play. But the combo of him and Watson
could be a good one in '15.
2. Ryan Watson 92
6-2, 291, Jr.
Defensive Tackle
1. Jake Replogle 54
6-5, 269, So.
40 tackles, 10.5 TFL, 3 sacks, 1 PBU*
Replogle may have showed more improve-
ment than any player in 2014, proving he can
be a disruptive force on the defensive line. And
that should only increase with another season
to get bigger and stronger. Purdue needs depth; Michael
Rouse, a scout teamer, played vs. IU.
2. Ryan Watson 92
6-2, 291, Jr.
