GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 13 • 18 Wide Receiver 1. Trae Hart 5-10, 157, Fr. 9 rec., 80 yards* Hart's a try-hard guy, but at his size as a true freshman it was difficult to get him in advanta- geous matchups. This offseason, an opportu- nity to put on weight/strength, is an important one. But Purdue needs a playmaker on the perimeter. Who? 2. Myles Norwood 6 6-0, 172, R-Fr. Quarterback 1. Austin Appleby 12 6-5, 229, So. 144-of-272 passing, 1,449 yards, 10 TDs, 11 int.* 61 rushes, 198 yards, 5 TDs* Etling took the first half the season, and Appleby had the second. But neither solidified himself as the starter for 2015. It should be a wide-open race, with David Blough, too, for the job. Each had good attributes. Who will win out? 2. Danny Etling 5 6-2, 218, So. Running Back 1. Akeem Hunt 1 5-9, 183, Sr. 173 rushes, 949 yards, 6 TDs* 48 rec., 293 yards, 2 TDs* Too bad to see Hunt injured and unable to go in the fourth quarter of his final game as a Boilermaker. He was a warrior this season, tak- ing a beating to try to get Purdue as many victories as possible. His heart, speed and production will be missed. A lot of the same can be said for Mostert. 2. Raheem Mostert 8 5-11, 190, Sr. Center 1. Robert Kugler 57 6-3, 298, Jr. Kugler's attitude and energy, which seem to mirror O-line coach Jim Bridge's, rubs off on the rest of his linemen teammates. They fashion themselves as a hardworking bunch that wants to take it to the opposi- tion. Judging from results in the rushing game, it was successful. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Right Guard 1. Jordan Roos 70 6-4, 312, So. Coach Darrell Hazell called Roos one of the Boilermakers' bigger surprises, because he was able to fend off challengers from his starting spot, then play well. For Clements to be more than a special teamer next season, he'll need his weight to continue to drop. 2. Corey Clements 71 6-8, 400, Jr. Right Tackle 1. J.J. Prince 73 6-6, 302, So. By the end of the year, Purdue's right tackles were banged up. Prince being the worse off. The sophomore, who had started 10 games, missed the IU contest because of shoulder issues. He likely will need offseason surgery on at least one of them. Cermin had a groin issue, but managed to make it through the Indiana game. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Wide Receiver 1. Cameron Posey 18 6-1, 182, So.* 19 rec., 188 yards, 1 TD* Purdue's slot receiver position was deci- mated by injury, first losing B.J. Knauf to a collarbone then Danny Anthrop to a knee. Posey, after seeming to have a breakout in 2013, was only OK in a bigger role. Purdue (obviously) needs Knauf and Anthrop healthy. 2. Shane Mikesky 87 6-4, 215, Jr. Wide Receiver 1. Gregory Phillips 13 6-0, 190, Fr. 12 rec., 151 yards* By the end of the year, Purdue was sapped of playmakers on the perimeter. Phillips showed signs, but he's young and raw. And Yancey disappointed big time, slumping as a sophomore. His drop against Indiana was indicative of his whole season. He needs to recover. 2. DeAngelo Yancey 7 6-2, 218, So. Tight End 1. Gabe Holmes 86 6-5, 258, Sr. 17 rec., 178 yards, 2 TDs* Purdue's senior tight ends were effective this season, but probably never as big a part of the passing game as what many had expected. Part of that's on Holmes, who played a solid last few games but never materialized in a game- breaker. Sinz's steadiness will be missed. 2. Justin Sinz 84 6-4, 249, Sr. (5) Left Tackle 1. David Hedelin 75 6-4, 295, Jr. In his first season as a Division I player, Hedelin showed both ability and need for improve- ment. He's a big, nasty dude, who can plow opponents out of the way. But his footwork and quickness are areas he could stand to focus on during the offseason. He struggled with the outside rush. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Left Guard 1. Jason King 72 6-3, 309, So. King had a solid season, prob- ably better than that consider- ing he's only a sophomore. That in mind, it's easy to think that Purdue's offensive line, especially on the inside, could be a strength next season. Tretter played a little, and needs another year of development so he can be counted on more. 2. Jason Tretter 76 6-6, 304, R-Fr. SPECIAL TEAMS OFFENSE Kicker Paul Griggs 37 6-1, 197, Jr. Punter Thomas Meadows 30 6-0, 183, Jr. Kick Return Akeem Hunt 1 5-9, 183, Sr. Raheem Mostert 8 5-11, 190, Sr. Punt return Frankie Williams 24 5-9, 189, Jr.
