LT1 ΠTHE NEXT GENERATION Introduced on the seventh-generation Corvette Stingray,
the 6.2L LT1 V-8 opened the next chapter in the long, historic legacy of the Chevy small block
engine. It is architecturally similar to the LS family, but with a unique block casting, cylinder head
design, oiling system – including standard oil-jet piston cooling – and more. It also combines
advanced technologies including direct injection, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and
continuously variable valve timing to support an advanced combustion system.
Chevrolet Performance oªers a new LT1 crate engine – available with a wet-sump or dry-sump
oiling system – rated at 460 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. They also have a unique controller
specially designed for custom applications.
The new LT1 won't immediately replace the adaptable LS family and its vast network of high-
performance support, but oªers the latest technology and will certainly make its presence known in
racing circles before long.
