of Willwood disc brakes, the truck is ready for any pre-run in the desert or a full-on race. Upgrading The Engine Originally, the truck had a modified 302 cubic inch V8 engine when it competed in SCORE and other racing events. For Yeiser, a small-block making around 400 horsepower wouldn't do in his vision of the truck. Instead, he opted for a 460 cubic inch big block that makes 1200 horsepower and 900 lbs.-ft. of torque. To achieve this power level, Yeiser sought the help of NCP Motors in Diamond Springs, California, to build a twin- turbo, fuel-injected engine. The project began by balancing and blueprinting the block and cylinder heads, then adding a set of JE 8.5:1 compression pistons and Eagle H-Beam connecting rods to the Ford modular crankshaft. A Competition Cams camshaft was used to control the flow of air and fuel to the combustion chambers which work in tune with the Turbonetics turbochargers that create up to 14 psi. of boost. The engine operates with an AEM control module and uses a long-runner Hogan aluminum intake manifold that has been outfitted with Blackhawk fuel injectors. The system gathers in air from two UMP air intake canisters MASTERCRAFT SAFETY SEATING AND HARNESSES KEEP THE OCCUPANTS SAFE IN ROUGH TERRAIN. THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE INTERIOR IS DEFINITELY MEANT FOR SERIOUS RACING, BUT IS ALSO SUITABLE FOR DRIVING ON THE STREET. 062 SCORE JOURNAL
