Issue 39 / 2012 TRAVEL 21 7 A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Whether you are taking a holiday, a gap year or a career break, there are hundreds of projects you can work on across Asia, Africa and the Americas. Building Community Conservation Health Education Sports Wildlife Children Marine or call visit BUDAPEST FIVE REASONS TO VISIT Europe's fastest up and coming city. CULTURE ALCOHOL Budapest may be one of the top business focal points in Europe, but it won't break the bank when it comes to drinking; for instance, the Trofea Grill which has four loca- tions around the city is a buffet with all the alcohol you can drink. Book ahead to avoid disappointment. NIGHTLIFE The admission to most clubs is free, while the bars are as swanky as the city itself. The A38 makes a bit of a change, as it happens to be on a boat. Bars can be quite pricey, but keep your head about you and you'll be able to find smaller places offering more reasonably priced drinks. As one of the homes of the renaissance, Budapest is steeped in rich history and is known as 'The Jewel of the Danube', the river running through its centre. By day the city's a gorgeous sight, covered in green parks and museums, and when the sun goes down, it's pulsing with some of the best nightlife Europe has to offer. TWO CITIES IN ONE Budapest is actually a combination of two very different cities, Buda and Pest (clever, huh?) Buda on the West is hilly and green, making for a wonderful respite from the more hectic Pest, east of the Danube, which offers the more regular urban excitement. EXCHANGE RATE The Hungarian Forint is close to being traded for the Euro in the next couple of years, but for now the Forint is at a reasonable conversion rate - just don't get confused by the extra digits. Those hotels shouldn't break the bank.
