  2016 BASKETBALL RECRUITING ISSUE But Beilein values kids who are good teammates as much as he does great players, and it didn't take him long to figure out that Teske was about as good as it gets as a person. Medina head coach Chris Hassinger found that out early in his big man's career. "He's a fan favorite," Hassinger said. "He's a community favorite, a kid that takes time to shake hands with everybody no matter who it is. He's such a humble kid that people would come up after games, I'd be introducing him and he'd say, 'Hi, I'm Jon Teske,' even though everybody in the area knows him. No matter what he was doing or where he had to be, he'd stop to take pictures with older people and young kids. "I can't say enough about him as a person. He talks to youth groups, has gone with me to talk to some of the shut-in and elderly people in homes that have meant a lot to the program and school system. He's always there when we hold free basketball clinics for at-risk youth." His size, in fact, was one of the first things Michigan head coach John Beilein noticed about him when he started recruiting Teske during his sophomore year, when Medina (Ohio) High's big man was just starting to come into his own.
