2016 BASKETBALL RECRUITING ISSUE geles Lakers starter Larry Nance Jr., averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor in the regular season, and his best days are ahead of him. He has range — he made three triples in a half recently in an AAU game with the Akron Bobcats — and is only now starting to realize his potential. "He's a lot farther along than his brother at the same age," head coach Dean Rahas said. "He plays all five spots for us, can bring it up the floor, post up. He'll shoot it, pass it and, just like his brother, has a very high IQ, is unselfish and makes guys around him better. He does it all for us." Ohio State, Dayton, West Virginia and Purdue have been in contact. "He'd be a perfect fit for John Beilein's system and the way they play, but wherever he goes he'll be good," Rahas said. BRANDON JOHNS, PF 6-8 • 225 EAST LANSING (MICH.) HIGH Rivals.com No. 21 sophomore nationally Michigan was among the first to prioritize Johns, and he's a great fit — a stretch four who can shoot it. He av- eraged 19.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 1.9 steals during a perfect regular season for the Trojans, who ended the year with a 23-1 record. He shot 52 percent from the field and knocked down 45 triples. "He looked a lot bigger when I saw him recently," Bossi said. "Taller, for sure. He's so skilled and just a great all-around player, and players in the shadow of a basketball power [like Michigan State] … they don't usually get away." Iowa was the latest to offer Johns, joining Alabama. "Michigan, Michigan State, Texas, VCU and Purdue have all shown in- terest," Johns said. Beilein watched him during the regular season and also has been keeping a close eye on him this spring. ROB CARMODY, SG 6-3 • 180 MOON TOWNSHIP (PA.) MARS Not rated Duquesne was the first to offer a scholarship in July 2015, but Car- mody will almost certainly be play- ing high-major ball somewhere. Penn State, Purdue, Xavier, Cincinnati and Pitt offered the athletic, gifted Brandon Johns is a four- star prospect ranked No. 21 nationally by Rivals.com in the 2018 class.
