FASHION
It's easy to get caught
up in the world of fast
fashion.
STOP FOLLOWING FAST FASHION
You are constantly surrounded by it
every day there's an H&M on almost
every street corner. But there are a few
easy steps you can take to disentangle
your world from the fast fashion
bubble.
The first is simple, stop following high
profile fashion brands on social media!
Give yourself space from a consistent
barage of clothes, looks and outfits
that not only do you not need, but
hurt the environment and many
people along the way.
Swap these for something inspiring,
follow Instagram accounts like
StoriesBehindThings promoting the
wonders of second hand, pre-loved
pieces. Or Zady making clothes that
last a lifetime and fash_rev who
promote the true cost of fashion.
It seems ethical & sustainable fashion
is becoming a much more popular
subject but you can help make it so.
Talk about it with you friends, organise
clothes swap with your peers and start
finding your favourite charity shops. It
might take a while to scout out spots
where you can find gems but once
you've got these, make the trip & you'll
be surprised what you can find!
Using her own body, she
brightly paints herself and takes
photographs of her work, creating
her contemporary pieces that
are inspirational to free-spirited
fashionistas, artists and all round
creative types. Some people use
clothing to express themselves,
whereas Derrick uses her body and
paint, breaking all the rules in the
art and fashion industry.
"My body becomes the canvas
for the paint, questioning
the traditional concept of
painting & portraiture, and the
barriers between painting and
photography" - Sophie Derrick
If you're running low on creative
vision, Derrick's work is full of
colour and life which could
potentially give you the next
ground breaking idea. Check out
