ISSUE 94 / 2016 23 FILM The much anticipated release of Trainspotting 2 is finally here! Fans of the twisted insight into Scotland's heroin scene are waiting to see what director Danny Boyle is going to shock us with next. It is based partly on Irvine Welsh's second novel 'Porno', which has been described as "not a great book in the way that Trainspotting, the original novel, is genuinely a masterpiece". This second instalment is sure to touch on some very disturbing social scenes. 21 years after the release of the first Trainspotting, the well established cast returns in full, including Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner and Robert Carlyle. Its going to be exciting to see how these actors have grown and matured as performers in this next instalment. It is hinted by Carlyle that T2 "is going to be quite emotional for people. Because the film sort of tells you something about yourself. You are going to be thinking Fuck. What have I done with my life?" The London Film Festival was full of incredible new releases: Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals was a surprise. Emily Parsons-Lord is an eclectic artist who decided to re-create air from distinct moments in Earth's history. It all starts with the clean, fresh-tasting air of the Carboniferous period and goes on with the soda-water air of the Great Dying to the heavy, toxic air of the future we're creating. By turning air into art, she invites us to know the invisible world around us and she tries to warn us of the path we are taking, ignoring the consequences of human kind's acrions. Dig in the Earth's past and future in this imaginative, interesting talk about art, environmental issues and earth. A tale filled with love and magic, this fairy-tale story is about a young girl who agrees to be taken hostage in the place of her father and is held prisoner. Over time she grows to love the 'Beast', saving him and his servants from a curse a witch cast upon him for his selfishness and cruelty. The original won two Oscars along with twenty-five other awards and is one of the only two animated films to be nominated for an Oscar for 'Best Picture of the Year'. This classic has been remade with a full star cast, starring Emma Watson as 'Belle' and Dan Stevens as 'Beast'. The amount of award winning actors that are a part of this project suggests that they will be able to live up to the genius of the original, maybe even surpassing it. A high quality of special effects will bring much loved, believable characters such as 'Mrs Potts' and 'Cogsworth, voiced by Emma Thompson and Ian McKellen, to life. The film promises that the live action interaction with these special effects, should bring a new level of magical reality to the enchanting tale of finding a Prince. This highly anticipated remake will hopefully bring the magic that the original did to a newer generation. Beauty and the Beast will be hitting the screens March 17th as a live action adaption of Disney's original animation that aired in 1991. REVIEW: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
