99 MAY 2018 Bringing Our Stories to Life, designed to invigorate and restore several of the organization's cultural sites and help visitors nd fresh and deeper ways to connect with them. e Trustees formed an Art & the Landscape Committee com- posed of experts in the eld of contemporary art. e committee helped choose Alonzo as the guest curator, due to his expertise and air for working with artists using public spaces to showcase their art. "What I believe as an artist and New Englander," says committee member Stephanie Benenson, (who is also executive director of Harbor Voices, a public art nonprot on the North shore) "is that these public art projects have a way of connecting people to a place and its history. I grew up regularly seeking out art and museum shows and having a public art piece, such as TunnelTeller, from an internationally renowned artist, is a real cultural gift to art lovers and the North Shore." "I always like the match-making aspect of this job," says Alonzo. "Each site has unique characteristics, and I pick the artist that is best suited [to] and most excited by them. I've been following Alicja's work for the last several years. By the time e Trustees was ready to do something on the Crane Estate, I had several artists in mind, but Alicja is the one who rose to the top." If you come to see TunnelTeller during its debut on May 19, you will pay no admission, since it's e Trustees' annual, free Home Sweet Home Open House day. You also will have the chance to meet artist Kwade and guest curator Alonzo. To further enhance your experience, you can download the TourTrustees app, which gives a history of the property, the Crane family, the house, landscape, and the many designers aliated with the property, as well as Kwade's installation.
