62 MAY 2019 a tree or a car or the side of a house until scout bees identify a new place to settle in. If you see a swarm at your house, act fast, but don't call pest control—call Beverly Bees. A third of all the food we eat is pollinated by honeybees, and they are in trouble. You certainly don't want them on your car, but exterminating them does no one any good. "Honeybees are struggling in modern society due to pesticides, monocrops, diseases, and pests," Deely says, and doing everything possible to save them is her biggest mission. "Without bees, we would starve to death," she adds. "Coffee, chocolate, feed for cows—all of it depends on bees." So during May and June, her company will remove a swarm, oftentimes free of charge, carefully placing the whole buzzing mass in a new hive that they drive someplace that wants one. "Swarms are exciting, and that's an emergency," says Deely's husband, Brian, who specializes in difficult stinging insect removals. at is, it's not so much an emergency situation from Deely makes candles from the bees wax produced.
