® 19 END OF YEAR REPORT 2024 Approved for distribution outside of the LoRa Alliance ® ® LoRaWAN ® GROWTH ACCELERATES ACROSS KEY VERTICAL MARKETS The utilities, cities and buildings, and industry and smart manufacturing sectors have validated the pivotal role of LoRaWAN ® in enhancing innovation, efficiency, sustainability, and safety. Through real-world implementations, they have inspired stakeholders to adopt LoRaWAN for transformative IoT solutions. Utilities In the utilities sector, LoRaWAN has been instrumental in advancing smart metering and infrastructure management. For instance, smart water metering has become one of the most extensive use cases for LoRaWAN, enabling efficient resource management and leak detection. Additionally, LoRaWAN facili- tates remote monitoring of gas flow rates and pressures in gas pipe networks, enhancing safety and operational efficiency. Cities and Buildings In urban environments, LoRaWAN supports smart city applica- tions, such as environmental monitoring, parking management, and street lighting control. For example, cities can manage their energy footprint more effectively by detecting outages and optimizing street lighting, improving safety for pedestrians and drivers. In buildings, solutions using LoRaWAN enhance secu- rity by detecting and monitoring facility equipment, while also enabling predictive maintenance to reduce costs and prevent failures. Industry and Smart Manufacturing Within the industrial sector, LoRaWAN enhances operations by enabling remote monitoring of equipment, predictive mainte- nance, and near real-time process visibility. For instance, in the oil and gas industries, LoRaWAN facilitates the monitoring of tanks, pipes, and valves, allowing for early leak detection and maintenance scheduling. This connectivity supports the optimi- zation of manufacturing productivity and safety. Activities Summary In 2024, these sectors collaborated to produce market re- ports, use case infographics, and webinars, and participated in several key events, providing end users with valuable insights into LoRaWAN's impact across various applications. Compre- hensive content about LoRaWAN's use in vertical markets is accessible through resource-rich webpages, which provide a guide for stakeholders and end users to effectively implement LoRaWAN in their respective domains.
