® 4 END OF YEAR REPORT 2024 Approved for distribution outside of the LoRa Alliance ® ® the only LPWAN that offers true deployment flexibility supporting public, private, community, terrestrial, and satellite networks. Perhaps more importantly, all network types have seen steady growth globally, with strong momentum for private networks and accelerating network integration via roaming. Satellite is a particular area of strength as there are already three commercial service providers in operation, putting LoRaWAN well ahead of the curve in terms of NTN coverage. The significant growth from private networks is driving enterprise deployments––in large part to support the smart industry and smart building sectors. Our certification program is another core strength of LoRaWAN; already the strongest LPWAN certification program, we are continuously working to make certification faster and easier by supporting new features as they roll out, innovating around pricing to make certification more cost-effective, and develop- ing and enhancing our suite of certification tools including the LoRaWAN Web Certification System (LWCS), LoRaWAN Certification Test Tool (LCTT), and self-certification programs. I am proud to report that the Alliance is already seeing the positive effects of adapting our certification program to address market requirements. The continuous development and evolution of the standard have driven LoRaWAN's leadership. Omdia reported more than 350M end nodes with LoRa ICs and 6.9M gateways with LoRa ICs deployed worldwide as of May 2024. Our member companies' growth supports this, for example: • ZENNER reported over 9M LoRaWAN devices deployed; • Actility reported over 4M connected LoRaWAN devices and a CAGR of 50+%; • The Things Industries connects 2.7 million devices and is seeing 50% year-over-year growth. Interestingly, even with analysts' reporting on LoRaWAN's market leadership, I am often asked to prove it––and I love doing so. It is a fact that LoRaWAN is dominant in the smart utilities and smart water sectors with deployments spreading globally. The Starbucks deployment of LoRaWAN in 10,000 stores exemplifies the opportunity for private network deployments and smart enterprise. In India and across the Middle East, Tata Communications has deployed 360,000 street lighting connectors, showing the opportunity for LoRaWAN in smart cities. We have seen growth across all key vertical markets and made strong inroads into Industry 4.0 with end users like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Chevron, Airbus, Total Energies, Chick-fil-A, and many others. But equally important to LoRaWAN's market leadership is its unique ability to support people and the planet. There are countless documented uses of LoRaWAN for things like environmental protection, food security, clean drinking water and conservation, climate change protection, and wildlife protection. Some recent examples include early detection of wildfires and gas leaks to enable rapid intervention, panic buttons used to summon police when students are in danger, search and rescue systems, and tsunami detectors that allow humans to get out of harm's way before they are at risk, the list goes on and on. Our global ecosystem is key to the development of these solutions that provide such a strong opportunity to enhance people's lives and the planet. This year's LoRaWAN Live Munich was a vibrant event bringing together 420 ecosys- tem players and featuring key end-user presentations from Mercedes-Benz, Bechtle, Chubb, Adani Total Gas, Italgas, and other well-known brands. We also increased our visibility across key vertical markets through participation at several key events like Hannover Messe, Enlit, and Smart City Expo World Congress. Towards the end of the year, we focused on growing our presence at member-led events, capped off by participation at member company Packetworx' IoTCON24 in Manilla where we took the stage and spoke to local media. This approach will be key to our events strategy in 2025 as we work to support our members in the communities they serve. We started this journey as an Alliance nearly 10 years ago and have experienced a steadily growing market. While other technologies have come and gone, it is clear that LoRaWAN's unwavering growth will endure.
