Boilers Survive Again At Home
Eastern Michigan takes Purdue to wire
Purdue 69, Eastern Michigan 64
Dec. 7, 2013
Mackey Arena
Kendall Stephens got Purdue going in the first
half with 11 of his career-high 13 points. In just 10
games, the rookie has moved into a tie for ninth
on the Purdue freshman three-pointers list. He has
made at least three three-pointers in four games.
A.J. Hammons' presence is a big reason
that Boilermaker foes are shooting just
42 percent from the field in the last four
games. He had four blocks vs. EMU and
now has 103 in his career. It is the fifth
time this year he has had at least that
many blocks in a game.
For much of the contest, Coach Matt Painter
had flare-ups with the officials. The fivepoint victory made Painter 66-5 against nonconference foes in Mackey Arena
The Eagles had cut Purdue's lead to a single point with
just under six minutes left. But senior Terone Johnson
nailed this critical three-pointer with 5:15 left to give the
Boilermakers a wider margin.
