No matter what the cause of your dental anxiety, at Northern Star Dental Group, we are able to offer you a variety of sedation options. Based on your needs and medical conditions, you may be a candidate for oral sedation, nitrous oxide, conscious sedation or general anesthesia to complete your dental treatment without the worry of pain. With oral sedation, you will take a pill one hour before the appointment, which will allow you to reach a level of sedation that allows you to respond to questions but mostly sleep through the visit. During Nitrous Oxide ("laughing gas") sedation, an inhalational anesthetic is delivered through a nasal mask, which will make you feel like you are "floating in the clouds". Conscious sedation requires a placement of an IV and delivers a deeper level of sedation during which you are responsive to commands but you will not recall you visit. General anesthesia is a level of deep sedation via intravenous agents during which you are completely asleep.
