NSHOREMAG.COM 72 AUGUST 2018 drink C O C K T A I L EDITORS' CHOICE THE BALDWIN BAR, THE BALDWIN & SONS TRADING COMPANY, WOBURN STANDOUT QUALITIES: Award- winning drinks in a moody library space where the pres- entation—ornate glassware, sil- ver platters, and the occasional item smoking from liquid nitrogen—is as well thought out as the superb cocktails. WHAT'S UNIQUE: The ability to enjoy cocktails with some of the best Sichuan food around, from the family's restaurant downstairs. INSIDER TIP: Baldwin & Sons is the upstairs bar and is open Thursday to Sunday. While it seats 45, reservations for a two-hour seating are strongly recommended. The original Baldwin Bar, on the first floor, offers its own menu of well- made drinks seven days a week. 2 Alfred St., Woburn, 781- 935-8488, thebaldwinbar.com READERS' CHOICE OPUS, SALEM INSIDER TIP: The bartenders are constantly conjuring house-infused liquors, from licorice gin to cinnamon bourbon. Ask what they're excited about right now. 87 Washington St., Salem, 978-744-9600, salemopus.com C O F F E E S H O P EDITORS' CHOICE LAND OF A THOUSAND HILLS COFFEE COMPANY, LYNN STANDOUT QUALITIES: The cof- fee is all sourced from farmers in Rwanda at a price greater than fair trade prices, part of the company's focus on improv- ing social conditions through- out its business. The delicious coffee is brewed via pour over, cold brew, French press, or drip, and the tea is organic. WHAT'S UNIQUE: All of the café's profits go directly to The Haven Project, a nonprofit that helps homeless youth in Lynn and the surrounding communi- ties. The café is also a site for its job training program. INSIDER TIP: Honey vanilla and lavender vanilla lattes are house specialties. 61 Munroe St., Lynn, 339-440-4563, lothcoffeelynn.com READERS' CHOICE LAND OF A THOUSAND HILLS COFFEE COMPANY, LYNN D I S T I L L E R Y EDITORS' CHOICE RUMSON'S RUM, SALEM STANDOUT QUALITIES: Rum- son owner Eric Glass travels the Caribbean to select the aged rums the company uses, which allows Rumson's rum to be consistently good from their sourcing to their own hand-blending and finishing in Salem. WHAT'S NEW: Rumson's is moving to new glass bottles which will have the name and pirate dog logo embedded in the bottle. FUN FACT: Rumson's is quite possibly New England's most awarded rum brand. 4 Flor- ence St., Unit 3, Salem, 978- 745-4786, rumsons.com READERS' CHOICE PRIVATEER RUM, IPSWICH WHAT'S NEW: The distillery opened a tasting room this year where you can try their Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Company PHOTOGRAPH BY ELISE SINAGRA
