6 Eight of Nine Nonprofit Subsectors Benefited from Increased Giving Trends indicate giving is strengthening across every donor type and all nonprofit subsectors will continue to benefit: • Religion, education, and human services were once again the top recipients of charitable dollars. • Foundations enjoyed the largest gains (15.5% increase). • Contributions to the health subsector have grown fastest for four years in a row. • Subsectors have experienced many consecutive years of solid growth in giving, including public-society benefit (8 years), religion (7 years), and arts, culture, and humanities (6 years). Based on these trends, the rising tide of giving has been lifting all nonprofits, as individuals, corporations, and foundations continue to support a wide variety of charitable endeavors.
