For years The Doctor's Orders have put on an event and promoters and thousands of dedicated fans have celebrated the life and work of the incredible James "J-Dilla" Yancey. In his short 32 years, Jay-Dee or J-Dilla, created a new sound of hip hop, the 'Dilla', sound and was an inspiration for all music lovers including DJs, musicians and artists around the world. This night is always a sell out event, the minimum donation is £6 and all proceeds from the night are donated to the J-Dilla Foundation & Lupus UK. Hailing from Detroit, J Dilla along with his group Slum Village, produced classics such as 'Fall In Love' and 'Let's'. DJs on the night will include Phat Kat, Shortee Blitz, Mr Thing and many more, and the Spin Doctor himself will be treating us to a special Dilla AV set. With special guests to be confirmed and of course, the t-shirt designed exclusively for the event, this is sure to be another big year. THE SPECIALS AT THE O2 ACADEMY, BRIXTON, 28TH MAY Grab your tickets now! The legendary and fanciable two tone ska revival band formed in Coventry, will be performing at the 02 Academy. Their sound is a dancey punk style beat alongside that of traditional reggae. After 1984 they did break up for a while, but reformed twice after that. Well known for their singles Ghost Town and A Message to you Rudy, they previously performed at the O2 in Brixton during their 30th anniversary tour in 2009. They also played at Glastonbury with Lily Allen to perform Gangsters, another renowned track. WEDNESDAYS: UP LOUD Free entry and cocktails half price all night long. Sounds like a perfect way to spend every Wednesday night! Starting from the 9th January 'Top Banana crew aka Donna Sasà and Vaitea on the mix, will make you bounce till the early hours.
