Versyp: "Her defense, she has to continue to be more physical and she has worked on that. She has to be able to shoot over a big kid. No matter what they do, she needs to be able to come off of screens and read them, get someone up in the air, and get them in foul trouble. That is what she worked on over the summer. We always talk about the Louisville game. You didn't get open, you just ran around. You have got to be able to read screens and it doesn't matter if you have 6-foot-1 kid or a 6-2 kid on you, you have got to find a way to score." Gold and Black: Williams is bigger and stronger. You could play her some inside? Versyp: "That's huge. She has always been lanky and she is still that way, but she has filled out a little bit. She is stronger. She can bang. … She has always been versatile. She is one of the most versatile players we have had in a long time. Whatever we want her to do she is going to step up and do. She has expanded her game and her confidence. And for Dee Dee it is all about confidence. She is a different type of lady going into her senior year." Gold and Black: Wilson gives you some flexibility to come in at the point and let Moses and Houser play off of the ball some, right? Versyp: "Yeah, and we did that last year because KK and Courtney were our best (perimeter) rebounders (and) they were our scorers. That will continue. April, right now, is the best defender on our team. Just her quickness and her ability to get into someone's space. She understands defenses. My goal for her is to get in the best shape ever, be able to play 30 minutes a game, and she has to communicate. Those are the things she has worked on. If you look at her body, she has changed it. She looks stronger and is more fit." 78 IllustrateD volume 24, issue 2 Gold and Black: This has the potential to be a good shooting team. Versyp: "I think that our four guards that we just talked about and Hayden (Hamby) can score the basketball. Right now she is the quickest at taking someone off of the dribble. "Ashley Morrissette is a heck of a shooter. She could play the point but she can shoot especially well. When we are practicing, it is live and a lot of kids don't shoot well. They just do well in drills and halfcourt stuff. "Bridget and Dee Dee have worked on their game. We have a lot of outside scoring threats, whether it is 15-footers or three-pointers. That is what we worked on all summer. We worked on shooting the basketball and having great footwork. We may take more threes than we ever have. It just depends on how people play us. I like the challenge." Gold and Black: Perry gives you a different look with size on the perimeter. Where does she fit? Versyp: "Yeah, originally we put her down at the 4 spot for a little bit. I just didn't want to give her too much as a freshman. She can play the 1-4, kind of like Katie Gearlds did for us. She has that capability and she's a lefty and she is just so hard to defend especially down low. She is really the second-tallest player on our team. "In the 3 spot we can totally isolate her down low. She's a rebounder; she's a physical player who has great length. Her defense has improved tremendously. She was a defensive stopper in the Indiana All-Star game. She brings versatility, scoring mentality, rebounding and the ability to play inside and outside. And she is bright. She just gets it. She's not leaving the gym until she gets it." Gold and Black: What will Whitney Bays provide? Versyp: "She's really good about catching the ball down low and she has a great shot. She puts it on the floor very well, but we are working on her strength with her legs being able to straighten up. She is kind of leaning, which is going to take time with the strength of her body. She attacks and is a great passer. She is getting better at posting up." Gold and Black: You have some players who can score. But at the end of last season, you needed someone to be able to step up when things were going wrong, someone who could take it to the hole one-on-one. Do you feel like you have that player f
